About Us
Promise of Life Network is a nondenominational ministry unitingĀ with Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox denominations. Team members are active in a local church, provide pastoral references, and profess faith in Christ’s saving work, sharing it appropriately with the families we serve. We uphold the sanctity of human life, born and pre-born, and believe our shared vision of cherishing life from conception to natural death outweighs our differences.
We are here to support families and create a culture that cherishes life at every stage.

Our Vision

To see a world where life is cherished from conception to natural death.
Our Mission

To create a culture of life through Christ.
Our Beliefs

- We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His return in power and glory.
- We believe that for salvation, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential, and that this salvation is received through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and not as a result of good works.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and to perform good works.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved to the resurrection of life and those who are lost to damnation.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
- We believe that all human life is created by God and is sacred, beginning at conception and ending at natural death.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our History

Promise of Life Network began in the 1980s as two separate organizations: the Slippery Rock Crisis Pregnancy Center in Slippery Rock, PA, and the Habakkuk Pregnancy Resource Center in New Castle, PA. Over the years, these ministries have grown, merged, and expanded, forming a unified organization dedicated to cherishing life from conception to natural death.
Founded in the mid-1980s by Pastor Mike and Kathy Bruno, the Slippery Rock Crisis Pregnancy Center began as a hotline. By 1987, it was officially incorporated and expanded its services to include pregnancy tests, counseling, and family education. In 2001, the center introduced an abstinence program and later moved to a new facility on Franklin Street. In 2011, medical services such as ultrasounds were added, leading to a rebranding as Alpha Omega Center. In 2016, the Slippery Rock office relocated to its current downtown Main Street location.
The New Castle center began in 1984 as an outreach of the City Rescue Mission, initially providing free pregnancy tests and short-term shelter for expectant mothers and their children. After separating from the mission in 2000, the center became Habakkuk Pregnancy Resource Center, focusing on free pregnancy tests, parenting education, and material aid. The Earn While You Learn program, launched in 2001, incentivized parenting education with material rewards. In 2013, medical services were added, aligning New Castle with Slippery Rockās offerings.
In 2012, Slippery Rockās Alpha Omega Center and New Castleās Habakkuk Pregnancy Resource Center merged, combining their missions. Together, they expanded their abstinence education under the āLifeMattersā program, later rebranded as Healthy Relationships Today in 2019. This program now provides sexual integrity and healthy relationship education in schools locally and nationwide.
In 2015, the Step Into Hope program was introduced to provide post-abortive Bible studies, offering hope and healing to women experiencing grief and guilt. That same year, Alpha Omega Center added the New Beginnings parenting program in Slippery Rock.
In 2019, Promise of Life Network launched athomeabortionfacts.com, an online resource addressing the rise of at-home abortion pill use. The website quickly became a trusted tool for women and pregnancy centers nationwide. The same year, the organizationās Executive Director, Sarah M. Bowen, published Courageously Pro-Life, a resource for churches and pregnancy centers on the history and future of the pro-life movement.
To better serve its clients, the organization restructured its branding. The name āPromise of Life Networkā was adopted as the overarching name, while āAlpha Omega Centerā became reserved for medical services. This clarified services for clients and allowed for continued growth.
Promise of Life Network now operates five locations in Pennsylvania, providing pregnancy services, parenting programs, and community education:
Medical Services (Alpha Omega Center): Slippery Rock and New Castle
New Beginnings Parenting Program: New Castle, Slippery Rock, Sandy Lake, Butler, and Mercer.
Healthy Relationships Today reaches students nationwide through local presentations and online platforms. The Step Into Hope program continues to offer confidential post-abortive Bible studies, while athomeabortionfacts.com serves women globally.
Promise of Life Network remains committed to growth and innovation, with plans for local, national, and international expansion. Through prayerful planning, the organization seeks to save and change lives, continuing the legacy established by its founders.
